One Step Back, Two Steps Forward

Updated: Nov 4, 2023

The Legacy Drive series is one that I’m incredibly proud of. What started off as simply a passion project has transformed into what will one day be a full trilogy of stories centered around a family, their struggles throughout the years and their love of motorsports.

In the next installment titled Though I Fall, I set out to tell the story from a different perspective; one that would cause the reader to see through the eyes of the story’s main protagonist, Chad Watson. The first drafts have been completed and in short, I’m very happy with how it turned out. Although I’d originally intended the story to be much shorter than it ended up, you may be happy to read that the second book is just about on par with the length of Legacy Drive and chock full of action.

For those who’ve followed the development of this story (from seeing the trailer which I released back in June to keeping up with my social media posts) you probably took note that Though I Fall was scheduled to release on November 24th. You may have even preordered it too! The date seemed like an obtainable goal at the time but as the finishing touches took much longer than I’d anticipated, it started looking like it would be a bit of a stretch. Once I released the audiobook for Legacy Drive, I immediately planned to release one for Though I Fall as well. This time, however, I wanted it to debut on release and not wait years like I did the first time around.

As my wishlist for this story began to pile up, I soon realized that getting everything completed by November 24th just wasn’t realistic. Additionally, I’d worked way too hard and put way too much money into this story to rush it and release it half-baked. Most importantly, you (the reader) deserve more than that.

With that being said, I’ve made the tough decision to push the release date for Though I Fall back a few months to March 1, 2024. By doing so, this allows the editors more time to finish up without rushing and in doing so, it gives me a complete manuscript that I can send to the audiobook narrator. This also gives plenty of time to work out any kinks which may (and probably will) arise with getting the covers completed for the physical paperback and hardcover copies which will release as well.

In delaying the release of Though I Fall, however, there's a chance that all current pre-orders could be canceled by Amazon.

If this should happen, those of you who've pre-ordered will need to go back into Amazon and place your order once again. Or simply wait until release date to pickup a copy of your choice!

On the new release date, the ebook, paperback, hardcover and audiobook will launch together. That’s the plan, at least. I should mention that getting audiobooks to launch on a specific date is very difficult with Amazon/Audible so for that, the best I can say is it will be at or around March 1st.

You’ve waited too long to get your hands on a story only for it to be full of grammatical errors and underdeveloped scenes. What you’ll receive now is a polished story that I’ll be proud to put my name on.

Believe it or not, the opposite was the case when I released Legacy Drive. Despite paying for an editor, the book was full of errors! I was left scrambling trying to get everything fixed and the new manuscripts uploaded. Let’s just say I’m not looking for a repeat incident.

Thank you all for your patience and maybe even a few prayers. This has been a long journey and I’m excited to share this story with you. If you enjoyed the first book, you’re gonna love the next one as well as where the story will go in the third book.
